Words fae school
We are compiling a wee zine of wurds we used at school, here is the list so far, i would welcome any new submissions. braw
Bricey – To stand upright on a swing and kick outwards with your feet so that the swing is sent on a controlled orbit around the bar from which it hangs. This process was repeated until the swing became inaccessible to those wishing to use the swing, smaller in height than the individual carrying out the bricey.
Chuddy – Chewing Gum
Cossie – A Ford Cossworth (motor car)
Dingied – To ignore someone, could be symbolised visually by tapping the lower lobe of one’s ear or holding the lower lobe between fore finger and thumb and waggling it.
Dos – Good (east coast) i.e. that sandwich was dos; bad/dodgy (west coast) i.e. he is a dos cunt
Feestie – Ford Fiesta (motorcar)
Gid een (skinny) – from Good one, a sarcastic form of appreciation skinny could be inserted after the phrase. Origins unknown.
Gutties - Trainers
K.I.G (abrv.)- Keeping in the greet, trying not to cry
Mankit – Dirty, a state
Meental – Mental, a bit mad
Old dutch – Mother
Satched – Soaking, wet through
Spinnies - To drive around simply for the sake of driving
Spoff – Not sure
Stung a peach – see dingied
Tinky – Used to describe something not very cool or a bit tough round the edges generally as a result of a lack of money being spent on the item. Could also be used to refer to someone’s general demeanour, i.e. he/she is tinky
Micro – To clench ones teeth and then flick ones tongue repeatedly until a thin jet of spittle is projected through the gaps in ones teeth
Nigel – A loner
Vooddy - Vodka
Whinnies – Gorse bushes growing in large clumps
